ALPINA, an innovation driver of the helmets and eyewear sector: This was the mission of the business when it was started in 1979 and it continues to apply in 2012 and beyond. 33 years ago, Werner Grau founded ALPINA and to this day the company is committed to producing the best ski and sports glasses, bike and ski helmets – innovative and made in Germany. This commitment has led to milestone achievements in the industry at the development and production site near Augsburg. Grau retired at the end of July 2012 but his philosophy remains: market leader ALPINA will continue to be an innovation driver with Grau’s successors, Alexander Selch and Falk Pewestorf, at the helm. The two chief executives will drive the company’s internationalization forward and are striving for technology leadership.

The ALPINA V.I.P. Talk was one of the highlights today at ispo. The helmet and eyewear specialist presented Olympic ski cross gold medalist Mike Schmid as the brand’s star guest at the trade fair. The Swiss ALPINA athlete talked about the new popularity of his sport, his injury and his aims. ALPINA’s CEO Werner Grau commented on his company’s involvement in professional sports. Obviously, two other ALPINA top stars were featured at the V.I.P. Talk as well: the Swing sports and the new Panoma Magnetic snow goggles. Panoma Magnetic is the winner of the Plus X Award in the High Quality, Design and Functionality categories.
