On May 14, avid cycling fans and excited tourists alike will have the chance to view the sixth stage of the 2009 Giro D’Italia right from the sidelines. After riding 150 miles through East Tyrol, finally entering upper Zillertal, these top cyclists will be barely more than an arm’s length from spectators, as the route winds its way for seven kilometres right through the heart of Mayrhofen.

The Giro d’Italia – an important event on the international cycling calendar – is due to set up camp again in Mayrhofen on 14 May 2009. Cycling fans from every corner of the globe are expected to follow the battle for the cherished maglia rosa, the pink jersey worn by the overall leader. Although in Zillertal, even amateur racers and mountain bikers find plenty of ways to savour world-class cycling.
