Infectious winter sport action for sporty families
Freeridecross means steep curves, rapid jumps, flowing waves and other special obstacles. Together, these add up to a unique course that offers the perfect playground for adrenaline junkies of all ages, whether on snowboards or skis. In short: Freeridecross offers action in the middle of the ski resort but away from the normal slopes! Four resorts in Germany, Austria and Italy already have Freeridecross trails and this new concept from snow park specialists Schneestern is proving to be a hit. The "Family Action Day" at Silvretta Montafon was not the first time this was in evidence.
In Freeridecross, a sporty experience awaits courageous skiers and snowboarders who dare to take on the perfectly prepared routes with freeride and freestyle-oriented elements. These include, for example, steep curves, drops, boxes and tunnels with sound and lighting effects. Winter sport flow, fun and entertainment - all brought together in a single package! Best of all: you do not have to leave the safe areas as in freeriding - in Freeridecross the action is accessible to everyone. It doesn't matter whether you're an absolute crack skier or a newcomer to winter sports. The various courses mean that the trail can be mastered by users of all skill levels. Freeridecross is also a great experience for families who don't know the meaning of the word "boredom", as the "Family Action Day" at Silvretta Montafon showed. The scene on the Grasjoch slopes was dominated by the smiling faces of Freeridecross fans, both young and old, who just couldn't get enough of the flow.
This flow is firmly under control at Silvretta Montafon, the only Freeridecross park in Austria. There are the spectacular courses in three other areas in Germany and Italy: Actionwelt Sudelfeld, Mottolino Fun Mountain/Livigno and Santa Croce/Alta Badia. There's plenty of room to let the skier's creativity run wild. The idea behind the concept becomes clear: "Not every winter sports enthusiast likes to spend the day on levelled slopes," says Schneestern founder Dirk Scheumann. "These days ski resorts have to offer their customers variety and new experiences." Four resorts have recognized this trend, leading them to expand the range of action and fun alongside the normal snow park.
Freeridecross Courses and Events 2017
The basic idea remains the same, but all routes are different. At Silvretta Montafon the Freeridecross course at the Fredabahn offers the perfect combination of boardercross and the flow of backcountry. At Actionwelt Sudelfeld, a completely new section has been added to the circuit this season. At Mottolino Fun Mountain in Livigno, the Freeridecross complements the overall concept of the ski resort. An insider's tip among the four routes is the beautifully situated Freeridecross in Santa Croce, which passes through an incomparably beautiful winter landscape. But no matter what resort you choose, entertainment is guaranteed on all Freeridecross courses. Special features such as wood drops or the FRX tunnels with sound and lighting effects will make you forget the everyday routine of the slopes in next to no time. There will be a perfect opportunity to experience this adventure in the upcoming events at Actionwelt Sudelfeld. The "Challenge Day" on Sunday, 12 March, is the contest for those who love a challenge and who want to experience Freeridecross under racing conditions. Starting numbers, time challenges and coaching provide a touch of world cup atmosphere. However, the competition is not only for professionals! They will be on hand at the "Meet the Pro" event on 18 March. As a highlight of the season, the stars of the ski and boardercross scene will reveal their tips and tricks. Will anyone be brave enough to try them out?
