For 100 years, it has been impossible to imagine skiing without the HOLMENKOL company. What began with the development of the world’s first ski wax still continues today. High-performance waxes ensure the best possible conditions on the slopes and are easy to use at the same time. In the meantime though, another very important aspect plays a role in the company’s development: sustainability. Out of a sense of responsibility towards nature, HOLMENKOL has been working on new, environmentally-friendly ski waxes for years.
It all began in 1922: the development of the world’s first ski wax is also the birth of the HOLMENKOL company. As a passionate ski jumper, Dr. Max Fischer puts his personal love of winter sports into practice by founding the company. And this passion drives HOLMENKOL to this day. Sustainability is another crucial aspect that shapes the company and its development of new products. As the world’s first SWAN eco-certified ski wax manufacturer, the company takes its responsibility towards nature very seriously. This is particularly evident in the completely fluorine-free series for racing and the organic Natural line.
3 Schuss: new limited anniversary edition
3 Schuss, developed by Dr. Max Fischer on the basis of synthetic raw materials in the postwar period, became the standard in the world of skiing. With the different colours for various areas of use, he made it possible for the athletes to get the perfect wax result in every temperature and snow condition. This legendary ski wax is available in a limited edition for the company’s centenary anniversary. The difference to the original product: liquid waxes have replaced the three wax bars. But just like back then, the wax is quick and easy to apply and the three colours ensure effectiveness regardless of the weather.
Ecological principle with Natural Skiwax collection
HOLMENKOL becomes the world’s first eco-certified ski wax manufacturer in 2019. The fact that the company takes the protection of nature seriously is also demonstrated by the products in the Natural Skiwax collection. The organic label and the fact that the products are biodegradable is a unique selling point on the market. Environmental friendliness starts with the product packaging. The Natural Skiwax Bar will be available in uncoated paper packaging that can be easily disposed of with the waste paper for the 2023/24 season. The Natural Skiwax range’s formula is also new and fully in line with the company’s sustainable approach. This is based on upcycled sugar cane material and natural raw materials based on rice wax and beeswax. In addition to its environmental friendliness, the Natural Skiwax collection also stands out due to its quick and easy application and it can be used in any weather.
FF ski wax series: perfect material for alpine racing
Due to the ban on fluorinated substances in ski wax, HOLMENKOL has been researching fluorine-free formulations for years as part of the SYNTEC project and has developed a completely new composition for waxes in competition sports. The result is the FF series, a completely fluorine-free wax collection that fulfils all the regulations of the international ski associations without compromising on performance. This makes the Syntec FF Bar the perfect fluorine-free alternative to a racing wax. It ensures high speeds, maximum acceleration and ideal abrasion resistance. The Syntec FF Bar is available in the three well-known variants YLW, RED and BLU, which are used in different temperatures and snow conditions. The Syntec FF1 Liquid waxes are just as perfect for alpine racing. The YLW, RED, BLU fluorine-free high-performance finish liquid waxes can be applied easily and quickly just before the start of a race. Another result of the SYNTEC project is the Syntec FF 21 Bar. It serves as an ideal high-performance base wax for competitive and ambitious athletes and, like the other waxes in the FF collection, offers perfect results without any loss of performance compared to previous waxes containing fluorine.
