Dr Max Fischer wanted to ski faster on the slopes, so he developed the world’s first ski wax in
1922, closely followed by the establishment of HOLMENKOL. It has been impossible to imagine
skiing without the HOLMENKOL company since then. Athletes worldwide benefit from the
innovative products now, because the right ski wax can make a crucial difference to their

Beta Mix Red is one of the popular top sellers among HOLMENKOL
products. The hydrocarbon wax has been successfully established
on the market for over 30 years with its secret formula. It is ideal for
all athletes who are looking for a high-quality base and training wax
for all types of snow. Beta Mix Red stands out from other waxes due to its extreme abrasion resistance and wide range of applications. The product is also dead easy to apply. The
wax performs best in a snow temperature range from minus
4 to minus 14 degrees Celsius. HOLMENKOL’s Beta Mix Red is a real all-round talent, which turns every winter day
into a total success.
Fluorine-free waxes
Fluorinated substances were included in ski wax formulas as standard for many years. This
changed about five years ago due to the harmful effects of the non-degradable substance on the
environment and health. HOLMENKOL therefore faced the
challenge of developing new formulas for fluorine-free waxes
without compromising on performance. As a result of its
SYNTEC project, HOLMENKOL was able to present a
completely fluorine-free wax line for competitive sports as early
as the 2021/22 season. The success story continues: the Natural
Skiwax Bar now has an improved formula and sustainability is
once again paramount for HOLMENKOL. The bar is made of
biodegradable hot wax, is suitable for all ski bases and its
packaging is made of ecological paper. It can also be used
around the clock for all types of snow in any temperatures and
provides optimum gliding properties.
HOLMENKOL products in the World Cup
HOLMENKOL also has its own product line for racing – the FF racing wax range. It meets all the
international ski associations’ regulations, and even without the addition of fluorine, there is no need to compromise on performance. The range includes the three
Syntec FF1 Liquid YLW, RED and BLU waxes, which are also
fluorine-free and perfect as high-performance finish liquid waxes for
alpine racing. The three versions differ due to the snow temperatures
they are designed for. The waxes are designed for runs with fine to
coarse as well as wet snow, so they can be used in any weather
condition. Applying the liquid wax also increases speed and
acceleration. As the time available just before the competition is
often limited the Syntec FF1 Liquid impresses with how easy and
fast it is to apply.
