SQlab Introduces the New Grip Comfort Series 2.0 Short
Ergonomic grips for bicycles with twist shifters: the 721 2.0 Short and 702 2.0 Short combine a natural hand position with targeted pressure distribution and noticeable vibration damping

    06.08.2026

With the new 721 2.0 Short and 702 2.0 Short grips, SQlab expands its Grip Comfort Series for bicycles with moderate to upright riding positions. The new models bring the company's ergonomic expertise to city and trekking applications. Comfort is not created by the grip material alone, but primarily through a shape specifically designed to match the hand. Thanks to the shortened right-side grip, both models are specially developed for bicycles equipped with twist shifters or Grip Shift systems.

    Ergonomics Through Shape
A pronounced ergonomic wing increases the contact area of the hand, supporting an even distribution of pressure. At the same time, the raised outer edge, combined with the slight angle of the grip surface, directs pressure toward the outer edge of the hand. On the underside, the wave-shaped Ergobar provides tactile orientation for the fingers. It helps define a consistent hand position, contributing to a secure, controlled, and relaxed grip feel. A soft ribbed structure absorbs vibrations and provides additional damping across the entire grip surface. Particular support is given to the base of the thumb.

    Three-Dimensionally Optimized Fit
The Grip Comfort Series 2.0 is available in sizes S, M, and L. Unlike a simple adjustment of the grip circumference, the length and dimensions of the ergonomic wing also change proportionally across the three sizes. This allows the grip to be tailored more precisely to different hand sizes. The result is a grip size that fits each individual’s hand and promotes a natural hand position and a comfortable riding experience.

    Short Versions for Twist Shifters
The new Short versions have been specifically developed for bicycles with twist shifters. While the left grip retains its standard length, the right grip is shortened to accommodate the shifter mechanism. The models also feature an integrated chip element that creates a clean, premium finish at the outer end of the grip while serving as the structural basis for the optional installation of a mirror. For additional variation in hand position, the grips are also compatible with SQlab Innerbarends®.

721 2.0 Short: Comfort for Everyday Urban Riding
The SQlab 721 2.0 Short is designed for cyclists who primarily ride in comfort-oriented, relaxed urban environments. Its ergonomic wing increases the contact area and stabilizes the hand in an upright riding position. This makes the model particularly suitable for daily commutes, everyday transportation, and relaxed city rides. The combination of ergonomic support, vibration damping, and a secure grip position contribute to a comfortable riding experience, even on longer journeys. The SQlab 721 2.0 Short is manufactured from a durable TPE compound and is available in sizes S, M, and L.
